This job involves building, repairing, and packing wooden containers and storage items for shipping supplies in a defense warehouse, using tools to measure, cut, and assemble materials while ensuring items are protected during transport.
It's a hands-on role that requires working in a shop environment, sometimes outdoors, with physical tasks like lifting and using power tools.
A good fit would be someone with basic woodworking experience who is reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable with manual labor in varying conditions.

Emphasis is placed on how you gained the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time, and the required ability or potential to perform the job.
Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element (SOE) will be eliminated from further competition.
The SOE and minimum qualifications for this position is: I perform the common tasks of the job to be filled but under close supervision, such as receive general guidance on assignments, such as constructing boxes, crates, etc.; measures and saws materials to lengths that are needed; distinguishes between different sizes and kinds of lumber, such as soft pine, plywood, etc.; requires assistance to do more than routine tasks.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Physical Effort: Often required to stand, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
Lifts and carriesitems weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers with a weight limit up to 90 pounds and/or using lifting devices such as floor hoists or cranes.
Working Conditions: Works in shop area of large warehouse which sometimes is uncomfortably warm, cold, cool, damp and drafty. Occasionallyworks outside in all types of weather conditions.
Exposed to hazards, such as loud noise from tools and machinery; nose, eye and lung irritations from sawdust; possible cuts from sharp blades and tools; skin abrasions and splinters from handling unfinished wood; and possible injuries from flying wooden particles and fasteners.
