Job Description

Summary

This job is for a Cook 2 position at the Reynolds Reentry Center in Seattle, where you'll prepare meals for people in a reentry program, working early morning shifts from Monday to Thursday.

It's an internal transfer opportunity only for current permanent employees in the Washington Department of Corrections who are part of the WFSE union and already hold a similar role.

A good fit would be someone with cooking experience who wants to switch locations or schedules within the department.

Key Requirements

  • Must be a permanent employee of the Washington Department of Corrections (DOC)
  • Must hold permanent status in the Cook 2 class or equivalent
  • Must be represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE)

  • Available to work Monday-Thursday, 3:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with flexibility based on unit needs

  • No recent refusals or recent transfers under Article 4.7 (12-24 month restrictions apply)

The Department of Corrections (DOC) has a permanent, full time COOK 2 opening available within the Reentry Division. Position #W362 is located at Reynolds Reentry Center in Seattle, WA. Hours of work for this position are Monday - Thursday, 03:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Work hours are determined by unit needs and are at the discretion of the unit supervisor. If you are currently working an alternate work schedule, please be aware that this position may not be able to honor that schedule. For questions, please contact the Human Resource Office.

In accordance with Article 4.7 of the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE) 2025-27 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), this job opening is available to internal transfer candidates ONLY. Employees who meet the following criteria may apply:
  • You are requesting a transfer under Article 4.7 of the WFSE CBA.
  • You are a permanent DOC employee.
  • You currently hold permanent status in the class being recruited for in this job posting.
  • You are currently in a position represented by WFSE.
