Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will provide potable water for all facilities located throughout Camp Pendleton.
  • You will perform minor maintenance replacing small valves, renewing packing gland bolts, greasing pumps, replacing strainers and gaskets, adjusting pump control valves, altitude valves and changing out copper sense lines and fittings.
  • You will drive a pick-up truck in order to make scheduled visits to water stations and equipment.
  • You will immediately report all emergencies arising during the shift, stating the emergency, type and extent of repairs needed, and estimated time the water service will be interrupted.
  • You will read water meters at wells and booster stations.
  • You will weigh chlorine cylinders and tanks at various stations, recording the totals for each station in a logbook.
  • You will establish and maintain proper levels in reservoirs whether visibly or by level indicators.
