The Opportunity
Join the Office of Drinking Water (ODW) in leading essential statewide work that protects the health of millions.
As the Water Facility Inventory& Sanitary Survey Program Manager, you will guide a team of seven technical professionals and oversee multiple programs that ensure Washington’s 4,000+ Group A public water systems deliver safe, reliable drinking water.
This role influences statewide policy, shapes program strategy, and strengthens Washington’s primacy responsibilities under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Location and Flexibility
We value work-life balance and offer the convenience of remote work with occasional in-person collaboration opportunities.
Attending events or working in the office is rarely required and would be scheduled in advance.
This role may conduct occasional in-person field work and will be required to participate in emergency response.
This is a remote/home-based position available to applicants residing anywhere in Washington State, as well as those living near the Oregon/Washington border and the Idaho/Washington border.
Required Qualifications
Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.
Option 1: Seven (7) or more years of progressive experience managing an environmental or environmental health program.
Option 2: A bachelor's degree in public health, environmental health, environmental engineering, or closely related field; AND three (3) or more years of progressive experience managing an environmental or environmental health program.
AND for both options:
One (1) or more years of supervisory experience.
Preferred/Desired Education, Experience, and Competencies.
Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge and understanding of public and environmental health principles, programs, and current issues; personnel planning, evaluation, and management principles; state budget and strategic plan development, program assessment, and performance measurement.
