Job Description

Summary

This job is for a banquet waiter at the West Point Club, where you'll set up and serve food and drinks at events, handle orders, and clean up afterward.

It's a straightforward role that involves following basic instructions and keeping things clean and safe.

A good fit would be someone reliable and eager to work in a team setting, especially if they have some restaurant experience, but beginners are welcome as long as they're at least 18.

Key Requirements

  • At least 18 years old to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Understanding of sanitary food and beverage handling techniques
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation methods
  • Previous experience as waitstaff in restaurants or catered events (highly preferred)
  • Available to work within 75-mile radius of West Point, NY
  • U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, including military spouses and separated military

Full Job Description

This position is located at West Point Club. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

Area of Consideration This job is open to US Citizens and Non-Citizens residing within a 75-mile radius of West Point, NY.

(Military Spouse Preference (MSP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) eligible candidates are included in the area of consideration.) Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

A qualified candidate must possess the following: No prior training or work experience required. Must meet the state/local age (18 yrs) requirement for the serving of alcoholic beverages.

Applicants must be able to follow simple oral and/or written instructions.

Skills and Knowledge: Ability to follow simple oral and written instruction and an understanding of sanitary food and beverage handling techniques and an understanding of food preparation methods of food items.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: knowledge, skills, abilities, additional screening criteria and other characteristics.

In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Previous work experience as waitstaff in a restaurant and/or for catered events.

The experience must be reflected on your resume at the time of application to be considered a highly preferred candidate.

Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official.

All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection. Major Duties:

  • Performs routine duties of servicing banquets either by providing for set menu banquets or taking individual orders.
  • Involved in setting up and breaking down banquet settings and replenishing beverages.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
