This role involves helping manage voter registration, preparing election reports, and supporting staff during voting periods in a county elections office.
It includes training temporary workers, answering voter questions, and using specific computer systems to check records and resolve issues.
A good fit would be someone detail-oriented with office experience who enjoys public service and can handle busy election times.
Assists in supervision of departmental work unit on a daily basis and assigns workload for temporary staff. Provides training on data entry, office procedures, and elections information.
Responsible for EasyVote Candidate filings and Campaign Finance reports.
Compiles complex reports and correspondence, drawing from a variety of sources within and outside the department, and imports information from the Secretary of State office.
Routinely answers customer questions via telephone, email, and/or in person. Provides correct and concise information to voters, party headquarters and municipalities.
Checks election records from election officials for accuracy and completeness. Performs quality checks of department staff work and makes operational improvements as necessary.
Participates in personnel matters including disciplinary actions and the resolution of departmental disputes. Evaluates the performance of temporary staff and provides information to supervisor.
Provides telephone support for early voting clerks on online system. Assists with provisional ballot training and provides support to election officials on Election Day.
Executes reports and CDs for sale orders of registered voters, voting history and counts (spreadsheet/database) in Voter Registration System.
Assists clerks within the department with problematic issues and questions. Verifies counts for Election Day posting (voting history) for all elections.
Merges database to print labels and certification sheets for Election Day books. Assists in verifying petitions. Resolves Task Summary from State VR System (Unresolved Precinct/Jurisdiction).
May provide daily or frequent reports to managers. Researches imported files (street problems) for possible out of county correspondence and Team-SOS rejected records.
Responsible for OnBase system/Record Management, for storing and retrieving voter registration documents. Researches returned certificates and processes confirmation notices.
Enters voter registration data in computer and researches problems. Supervise the setup and scanning of voter lists for voter history and verify for accuracy.
Communicates with entities about election related questions. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications NOTE: You must fill out the work history and education sections of application to show you have years of experience/education as required by hiring department or be disqualified.
High School diploma or equivalent Three (3) years clerical and word processing experience. Knowledge of standard business practices.
Should have an in-depth knowledge of departmental work procedures and processes. Keyboarding, word processing and/or spreadsheet software. Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Effective oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Good customer skills.
Must have the ability to develop unique correspondence and/or detailed spreadsheets, follow and provide verbal and written instructions, have a detailed knowledge of the organization's and department's procedures, and exhibit good communication skills.
Very proficient with keyboarding, word processing and/or spreadsheet software.
In accordance with Election Code Section 12.006(e), applicants are not required to be a registered voter, but must meet the requirements to be a qualified voter: a person who is 18 years of age or older; is a United States citizen; has not been determined by a final judgment of a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote; has not been finally convicted of a felony or, if so convicted, has either fully discharged the person's sentence, including any term of incarceration, parole, or supervision, or completed a period of probation ordered by any court, or been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability to vote; and is a resident of Texas.If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processingTarrant County will conduct background checks on new hires that will include a criminal background check related to convictions and deferred adjudication in the past seven years and may include credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records and educational attainment.
A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic bar to employment. Each case is considered individually.
Additional Information While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, lift, push and pull.
