The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, is recruiting for three
Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors 1/2/3 located in Anchorage!

These positions are in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 15/17/19.


What You Will Be Doing:
In this position, you will evaluate and determine client eligibility for vocational rehabilitation services, approve individualized employment plans, and authorize case closures. You will provide counseling and guidance to clients with disabilities to help them identify career goals, overcome barriers, and achieve meaningful employment. The role involves interpreting assessments to determine each client’s strengths, abilities, and rehabilitation needs while developing and implementing effective service strategies. You will also approve and monitor services such as assistive technology, medical or psychological evaluations, and training or placement supports in accordance with federal regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate with schools, employers, and community partners to coordinate services, promote program awareness, and support successful employment outcomes for clients with disabilities.

This position is essential within the Division and progression through the Counseling series 1/2/3 is expected. As such, obtaining and/or maintaining a Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) is both required and supported by the Division.

This position is located in a busy yet quiet administrative office and operates during regular business hours (8am - 5pm); flexibility is available within those hours in addition to the ability to telework at times. You be working with a team of para-professional and professional staff helping Alaskans with disabilities obtain and maintain employment.

Requirements

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Level 1:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
AND
One year of paraprofessional or professional experience providing social assistance services to people with disabilities.

Or Substitution:
Graduate education from an accredited college in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, social work, guidance counseling, special education, or a closely related counseling discipline will substitute for the required experience (2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month).

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Level 2:
A master’s degree from an accredited college in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, social work, guidance counseling, special education, or a closely related counseling discipline.

Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor Level 3:
A Certification in Rehabilitation Counseling (CRC) from the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
