This job is for a Physician Assistant who manages a remote pain care program for veterans, overseeing staff, coordinating treatments, and delivering care through video calls or in-person visits across multiple facilities.
It involves assessing patients with chronic pain or opioid issues, prescribing medications, and working with a team to create effective care plans.
A good fit would be an experienced PA who enjoys leadership, telehealth technology, and helping patients manage long-term health challenges in a supportive government healthcare setting.
The TelePain Program Manager is responsible for providing and coordinating care for pain patients enrolled within the V20 CRH TelePain service.
The incumbent supervises staff within the TelePain service and works collaboratively with the A/COS for Specialty Care and others in the planning and implementation of the TelePain program.
Patient care is delivered to VISN 20 facilities through a combination of virtual and potential in-person care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.

Physical Requirements: Light carrying (15-44 lbs); Use of fingers; Walking (6 hours); Standing (6 hours); Hearing (aid may be permitted). Environmental Factors: Working closely with others.

New hire is required to live within 50 miles of a VISN 20 facility.
Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties include but are not limited to the following: Performs initial histories and physical examination, health inventories and assessments, orders and interprets diagnostic studies and prescribes and monitors medication and other treatment modalities on outpatients using telehealth technology and/or face-to-face visits.
Completes documentation and care coordination that is timely and thorough.
Prescribes or recommend medications within defined scope of practice depending on model of care, telemedicine or teleconsultation.
Initiates, responds to and expedites requests for consultations, special tests, and studies.
Demonstrates proficiency in diagnosing and treating complex chronic pain conditions and Opioid Use Disorder (OUD). Consistently makes reasonable decisions and has responsibility for patient outcomes.
Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Coordinates and discusses plan of care with other care providers, primary care providers, and specialists as needed.
Provides interdisciplinary care management that is timely, thorough, safe, and sustainable.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm PST Compressed/Flexible: Maybe considered for highly-qualified candidates.
Telework: Eligible, pending exemption for remote status: under the 180-day Mid-Term Extensions (MTE). This position could be approved for Mid-Term Extensions (MTE).
MTE allows for the facility leader to grant employees in the identified positions an extension up to 108-days to RTO; in which case approved positions would be approved locally to grant telework/remote for those 180-days.
Virtual: This position may be authorized as virtual based on the selectee's duty location and organizational needs.
