Salary: Visitor Information Program Assistant III: $3,892 to $4,925 per month (SR-12, Steps C - I)

Note: Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications and other relevant factors.

Shift work: Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Requirements

The Visitor Information Program Assistant III plans, assigns and reviews the work of lower level Visitor Information Program Assistants; conducts on-the-job training of subordinates as assigned and as needed; resolves operational problems except for unusual or complex cases which are referred to the supervisor; prepares and compiles operational reports; receives and resolves complaints or refers them to appropriate office as necessary; evaluates the work performance of subordinates; recommends approval or disapproval of requests for leaves of absence; prepares requisitions for supplies and other items; maintains daily log of all operational activities at airport and harbor terminals; and participates in special greeting assignments and conducts airport or harbor tours as required. Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Basic Experience: Applicants must possess experience which demonstrated the ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions, and a high degree of verbal skill. This experience may be met from part-time and/or unpaid work. However, there must be evidence that participation was on continuous basis, but not necessarily on a full-time normal work basis. This requirement may also be met by possession of a high school diploma, or equivalent.

In addition to the Basic Experience Requirement, applicants must have progressively responsible experience of the kind and quality described below.

General Experience: Two (2) years work experience which demonstrated positive evidence that applicants possess patience, tact, and an even temper in meeting and dealing with others. Examples of desirable experience may include, but are not limited to, experience providing hospitality of customer service catering to the traveling public.

Substitutions Allowed: Successful completion of coursework from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester credit hours of coursework for six (6) months of General Experience, provided the coursework included at least three (3) semester credit hours of coursework in psychology, sociology, social work, or other behavioral science.

Supervisory Experience: **Applicants for Visitor Information Program Assistant III must possess supervisory aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involve some supervisory responsibilities or aspects of supervision; e.g. by serving as a group or team leader; or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory capabilities exist; or by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; and/or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.

Driver's License: Applicants must possess a valid driver's license to drive in the State of Hawaii at the time of appointment.

Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Clearance - Federal Criminal History Records Check: In accordance with Federal regulations, persons who are being considered for employment in positions which require unescorted access to secured areas at the airport must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint-based criminal history record check. In order to be granted the SIDA clearance, prospective employees must not have been convicted, or found "not guilty by reason of insanity," of a disqualifying criminal offense within ten years from the date of the application. Upon recommendation for hire, prospective employees will be required to successfully undergo the fingerprint-based criminal history record check and be found free of disqualifying convictions during the preceding ten years.
