Base salary range: $104,604 - $135,987

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves coordinating emergency responses to vector-borne diseases in animals, acting as an expert on insect-related issues, and helping develop policies to prevent and control outbreaks.
You'll work with states, labs, and other groups to manage disease investigations and educate others on best practices.

In this position you will serve as a Veterinary Medical Officer (Emergency Response Program Coordinator) in the Ruminant Health Center and is responsible for supporting all aspects of the management of Vector Borne Disease programs.
You will also serves as a resource for the agency on all entomological matters and issues.

TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
BASIC REQUIREMENT: Veterinary Medical Officer (0701): All applicants to 0701 series must meet the Basic Requirement outlined in the Education section below.
In addition to the basic requirement above, applicants must also meet the following: FOR THE GS-14 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-13 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Collaborating on policy development, as well as managing, planning, and coordinating response activities among States, laboratories, and other entities following best veterinary practices.
Preparing and distributing guidance and recommendations to field personnel related to prevention and control measures for vectors, vector borne diseases, and emerging diseases.
Exploring, creating, and evaluating possible solutions to solve veterinary and public health problems. Note: There is no education substitution for this grade level. TRANSCRIPTS are required.
This position requires specific coursework or a degree in a specific field to be basically qualified.
this education must have been successfully completed and obtained from an accredited school, college or university.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).
