This job is a paid internship for honorably discharged veterans to help with hands-on maintenance tasks at Michigan Department of Transportation facilities, including repairs in areas like electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
It involves assisting with inventory and operations, often in tough weather or hazardous spots, and requires travel around the state.
It's a great fit for veterans eager to gain practical skills in trades while transitioning to civilian work, with no formal education needed but some labor experience preferred.


Preferred Education and Experience:
No specific type or amount is required.
Preferred Experience:MDOT does not participate in E-Verify and does not sponsor visa applications.
All newly hired state employees are required to submit and pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable) prior to their actual appointment. Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable.
