Summary

This part-time van driver role involves providing door-to-door transportation to seniors and people with disabilities in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, helping them get where they need to go while offering friendly support and conversation.

It's a great fit for someone who enjoys driving, works well on their own, and has a compassionate personality to assist others patiently.

You'll drive about 150 miles a day in a flexible schedule that can start as early as 4 AM or go until 9 PM, mostly weekdays with some weekends.

Key Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver's license with no suspensions in the last three years
  • At least one year of experience operating a motor vehicle as a regular job duty, or equivalent
  • Strong communication skills, including in-person and via two-way radio

Requirements

As a Van Driver with Wayne County Area Agency on Aging (AAA), you will enhance the mobility of our members by providing professional and accessible transportation in a safe, reliable, comfortable, and courteous manner.

This position requires scheduling flexibility and the ability to work independently and operate a county vehicle an average of 150 miles each day.

This is a rewarding opportunity to provide transportation services as well as social contact for our consumers, including senior adults and wheelchair-dependent individuals.

Excellent communication skills are imperative, both in-person and via two-way radio.

Our ideal candidate should exhibit a willingness and patience to assist senior adults and wheelchair-dependent consumers along rough pavement or unpaved paths.

We are looking for someone who is friendly and compassionate, as you will be providing vital assistance and socialization throughout the day.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Part-time employment, averaging 14-21 hours per week.
  • Work hours vary between 4:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Monday - Friday with limited hours on Saturday.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of employment which required operation of a motor vehicle as a regular duty; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.

Conditions of Employment:

  • No suspension of driver’s license within the last three years.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
