Requirements

In this position, you will perform skilled work in the daily operation and maintenance of steam boilers and auxiliary equipment to produce steam that ensures reliable heat and hot water for hospital operations.

Responsibilities include maintaining an uninterrupted supply of heat and hot water for the main facility and associated buildings.

You will collaborate with utility plant staff to operate boilers and related equipment, such as pumps, fans, turbines, ash handling systems, and air compressors, while continuously producing steam and regulating system pressures throughout the powerhouse.

Additionally, you will oversee work assignments, demonstrate proper work methods, and review completed work to ensure compliance with established standards.

You will also be responsible for enforcing all applicable safety policies, regulations, laws, rules, and procedures.

This role requires sole shift responsibility, managing overtime call-offs, and responding effectively to emergency situations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, Wednesday - Friday and 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, Saturday and Sunday.
  • Overtime may be required and subject to emergency call in.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
