This job involves operating and maintaining steam boilers and other utility systems at a long-term care facility to ensure reliable heating and comfort for residents and staff.
You'll lead a small team, perform routine checks and repairs, and handle tasks like testing water quality and running emergency generators.
It's a good fit for someone with hands-on experience in plant operations who enjoys shift work and leading others in a team setting.
As an Utility Plant Operator 2, you will operate and maintain boilers to meet the steam demands for SMRC.
You will lead the shift and carry out responsibility for utility plant operations including the regulation of feed water pumps, forced draft fans, condensate return pumps, fuel oil pumps, air compressors, water softeners, chemical feed pumps, air dryers, and temperature controls.
You will also record plant conditions, check the operation of condensate return pumps and sump pumps in buildings outside the plant, test water for proper softness, and add chemicals as necessary to maintain control limits.
This role requires solid knowledge of boiler plant operation, maintenance, and repair, as well as effective communication to oversee semi-skilled utility plant staff.
In addition, you will complete daily cleaning tasks, operate the emergency generator plant, and drive state vehicles to pick up parts and supplies.
