This job involves leading teams that clean, repair, and maintain the city's wastewater systems, like sewers and pipes, while handling customer questions and ensuring everything runs safely and on budget.
It's a hands-on supervisory role that includes responding to emergencies and managing daily operations.

Responsible for supervising and scheduling multiple crews involved with the cleaning of sanitary sewer mains, laterals and maintenance of sewer cleaning equipment and vehicles.
Resolves issues by investigating complaints, inspecting necessary materials and equipment, scheduling and supervising work and documenting progress and productivity.
Responsible for supervising the operation and maintenance of sanitary sewer cleaning equipment such as: water jet trucks, vacuum combination trucks, rod trucks and augers.
Familiar with sewer cleaning processes and chemical applications. Ability to read and interpret drawings of sewer assets.
Maintains infrastructure by assessing, scheduling and supervising work and tracking costs.
Manages projects by investigating complaints, working with engineers to determine the best method to resolve problems, documenting repairs, writing work orders, supervising and documenting deliveries of materials, heavy equipment and safety barriers, and monitoring work and costs.
Controls materials by taking yearly inventory and procuring supplies from vendors and the City's storehouse while following purchasing guidelines. Prepare daily timesheets and record materials used.
Manages employees by inspecting job sites, evaluating staff performance, assigning workers to planned tasks and worksites, assisting crews when needed, reviewing time sheets, preparing reports, conducting performance evaluations and coordinating the orientation and on-going training of workers.
Assists with job interviews.
Ensures compliance with safety measures by conducting safety inspections, informing employees about safety precautions, evaluating worksites for OSHA compliance, contacting Miss Utility, designing traffic patterns for crews, developing and enforcing a safety program and maintaining contact with city and state health and environmental officials.
Assists customers with wastewater concerns by meeting with them to answer questions, describe repairs and set time for service disruption and street closures.
Contributes to the development and preparation of the annual budget by assisting with cost estimates and coordinating the preparation of specifications for equipment and materials.
Responds to emergencies by leading sanitary sewer emergency response teams and coordinating standby team to respond to after hour emergencies (broken mains, sewer overflows, etc.) Qualifications Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational, technical, or office processes.
Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency.More than four years utility maintenance/repair/construction experience.
Additional Information A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License is required.
Additional, duty specific training and certification may be required within six months.Work Hours: Monday through Friday; 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
