Key Requirements

Requirements

This role combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training and offers the opportunity to learn how to interpret safety codes and regulations while working alongside industry professionals. As a UCC Elevator Inspector Trainee, you will help inspect elevators and related equipment by observing operations from within cars, atop units, and in machinery and hoistway areas. You will also assist in examining structural and mechanical components, including controls, wiring, hydraulic systems, safety devices, and doors, to verify safe operation and compliance with regulations. You will be responsible for supporting inspections of new installations and major repairs, helping assess unsafe conditions and recommending whether equipment should remain in service, as well as assisting with investigating accidents. Additional responsibilities include preparing draft inspection reports and contributing to detailed documentation of findings.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in the construction, inspection, installation, maintenance, repair, or design of elevators, passenger ropeways, or other lifting devices, electronic equipment, electrical systems, heavy machinery, motors, engines, drives or hydraulic systems.


Post Employment Requirements:

  • You must obtain a valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Elevator Inspector within the probationary period.
  • You must obtain a valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a Passenger Ropeway Inspector within the probationary period.


Conditions of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.


Other Requirements:

  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia county by the date of hire. Expenses will not be paid.
