Requirements

As the Travel & US Bank Specialist, you will play a key role in processing and reconciling credit card transactions with accuracy and efficiency.

You will support and train Credit Card Custodians, serving as a trusted liaison to proactively address and resolve potential issues.

This role requires adaptability to manage fluctuating monthly workloads while ensuring timely payment processing, reimbursements, and general ledger reconciliations.

Your strong attention to detail and commitment to excellence will directly support our mission of helping every Washington resident live, work, drive, and thrive.

Some of what you will do:

  • Send credit card statements to Credit Card Custodian monthly.
  • Collect credit card logs from Credit Card Custodians, review for completion and accuracy, and produce Journal Voucher (JV) transfers.
  • Act as a liaison, working with Fiscal Analyst 3 (FA3) Lead and credit card vendors to address/resolve issues.
  • Process timely A-19 reimbursements for meals with meetings, light refreshments, and meeting location rentals.
  • Act as back up to the Travel Desk.

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

Two (2) years of accounting related experience.

Up to two years of relevant education may substitute year for year of experience.

Experience must include:

  • Six (6) months of professional accounting experience.
  • Six (6) months of experience accurately use the ten-key numerical keypad on a computer or adding machine to enter numerical data by touch.
  • One (1) year of experience entering accurate accounting related information into an electronic accounting system.
  • One (1) year of experience providing customer service by listening attentively, identifying needs or issues, providing options for customers, and exercising knowledge of state laws and regulations to assist others.
  • One (1) year of experience conveying ideas and information in writing, using language that is appropriate to both the complexity of the topic and the knowledge and understanding of the reader.
  • One (1) year of experience using spreadsheet and word processing software such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • The ability to:

    • Understand the importance and significance of what records must be released and what is confidential.

What may help set you apart:
  • Six (6) months of experience analyzing and reconciling general or subsidiary ledger for validity and accuracy.
  • Experience accurately inputting data and reviewing transactions in Agency Financial Reporting System (AFRS) and ability to run Enterprise Reporting reports.
  • Knowledge of Office of Financial Management (OFM) Federal, and State regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience using DOL specific systems such as DRIVES and POLARIS.
  • Experience in accounting theory, principles and practices, internal control procedures, financial management software applications, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Additional Conditions of employment:
  • Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position.
  • The ability to work in office full-time for initial training period of six (6) months at our Olympia location after which telework may be an option, however there will be in office requirements will be based on business needs.
