Job Description

Summary

This job is for a travel clerk at a military base's leisure services office, where you'll help people plan fun trips, book hotels and tickets for events, and handle payments for these services.

It's a customer-facing role that involves giving travel advice and managing reservations without needing advanced travel tech skills.

A good fit would be someone friendly with customer service experience, comfortable with money transactions, and ideally some background in booking trips or working at a travel agency.

Key Requirements

  • Experience dealing with the general public in a customer service role
  • Experience performing financial transactions, such as receiving payments and issuing receipts
  • Ability to provide information on leisure activities, sell tickets, and make reservations for tours, events, and accommodations
  • Skills in assisting with travel itineraries, including hotel bookings and local services
  • Proficiency in maintaining brochures, price lists, and customer information resources
  • Highly preferred: Experience selling airfare using Global Distribution Systems like SABRE, AMADEUS, or TRAVELPORT
  • Highly preferred: At least 1 year working as a travel advisor in a travel agency

Full Job Description

This position is located at Leisure Travel Services on Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Resumes must be two pages (or less).

Assumptions will not be made regarding your experience and the duties performed ** In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered Highly Preferred: Experience selling airfare on Global Distribution Systems (GDS) such as SABRE, AMADEUS, or TRAVELPORT Experience (1 year) working as travel advisor for a travel agency.

**To meet Highly Preferred eligibility, you must meet all Minimum and Highly Preferred Qualifications, and this information must be clearly detailed on your resume.** *Applicants meeting the Highly Preferred criteria will be referred first to the Selecting Official.

All other applicants will be referred for consideration if the certificate (referral list) is returned with no selection. Major Duties:

  • Assists patrons by providing information concerning available leisure activities, selling tickets, making reservations and arranging for special accommodations required for tours, sporting events, theaters and special events.
  • Provides full assistance to individuals planning travel itineraries not requiring commercial transportation, including hotel reservations and other local service or information.
  • Maintains brochures, price listings and related information for customer use.
  • Receives payment, issues receipts and documents business transactions. Performs related administrative support duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
