Full Job Description

You will serve as a TRAVEL ADMINISTRATOR in the CORPORATE OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING BATH.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing guidance and training on travel regulations (Joint Travel Regulations), Defense Travel System (DTS) requirements, and the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program to ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will provide full range of travel support, including day-to-day operations of Defense Travel System (DTS) and responding to travel help desk calls relating to system problems, policy issues, and entitlements.
  • You will serve as Command expert on travel/DTS and staff advisor to executive management and general management in evaluating effectiveness of SSBA travel program.
  • You will monitor and report on the status and progress of work, maintain visibility of work in progress and review completed products to affirm that the supervisor’s instructions have been successfully addressed.
  • You develop travel metrics, monitor travel trends, and recommend travel program changes to improve efficiency and customer understanding of DTS and travel.
  • You will initiate and track debt collection actions to recover monies owed by the traveler to the government, and provide guidance for repaying debt and instructing employees on how to request a waiver or an appeal.
  • You will have demonstrated knowledge of the Government Travel Card regulations and the local organization’s charge card program operations and requirements.
  • You will develop and update travel card metrics, directives, standard operating procedures and all other correspondence required of the position.
