The Department of Transportation, District 3, is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Transportation Technician. This position is crucial as it involves the inspection of various transportation construction projects and the materials utilized in these projects, ensuring they adhere to the established contract plans and specifications. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Construction Division within the Engineering District 3-0 Organization, playing a key role in maintaining the quality and safety of transportation infrastructure. Requirements

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing construction activities related to road, bridge, and various transportation enhancement projects as assigned. Your primary objective will be to ensure that all work is executed in strict compliance with the established plans, specifications, and any special provisions outlined in the contract. You will meticulously document both personal and contractor activities in the Field Inspector’s Diaries, Item Quantity Books, and the sketch/Computation Book. Additionally, you will assess the placement and maintenance of work zone traffic control signs and devices, ensuring they are correctly positioned and functioning to promote safety and efficiency on the job site.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time, seasonal employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. The seasonal program is from April through October.
• You will work closely with vendors and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work; or
• One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

• This particular position also requires possession of a Class C non-commercial driver's license.
