Performs duties for Aiken Maintenance Unit. Assists in conducting inspections for moderate level contracts such as roadway mowing, vegetation or tree removal, street sweeping, etc. where field measurements for payment are required. Performs routine inspections of roadways to include low/high shoulders, pavement markings, signs, potholes, ditches and other roadway defects. Inspects traffic control on maintenance projects. Keeps accurate documentation of maintenance contract work for proper and timely payment. May be required to assist maintenance crews during Emergency Operations such as snow/ice removal, hurricanes, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.


The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel.

This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.

This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.

This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
