Full Job Description

Supervises the District 3 Resident Maintenance Engineers (RMEs) to ensure they are supported in their efforts to maintain each county. Advises the RMEs of any changes to policies or procedures as they occur. Schedules visits to each county to meet with the Resident Maintenance Engineers and their staff to review and discuss any issues relating to the roads and staff in the counties. Supervises the District's Assistant District Maintenance Engineers in all of their duties to ensure they are supported in their efforts to ensure the District is meeting its goals and providing quality customer service to its customers. Ensures that a maintenance representative is in attendance at preconstruction conferences, final inspection, pre-bid meetings, preliminary plan reviews, etc. Ensures that all customer complaints, work requests, and customer service questions and requests are reviewed, assigned, investigated, responded to, and any actions or repairs are implemented as needed in each county. Maintains, monitors, and manages all District 3 maintenance resources including personnel, equipment, and budget. Ensures that these resources are being utilized to their maximum potential and that purchases and procurement are in compliance with all policies. Meets and corresponds with property owners, city and county officials, and other government agencies to address any maintenance-related concerns and takes proper action. Serves as the District Coordinator and Manager of all emergency and weather-related maintenance incidents in the District. Works with Human Resources and county offices to investigate and resolve personnel problems and complaints as they arise. Provides expert testimony during litigation when required. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and eight (8) years of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

The physical demands for the essential functions involves sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. May require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal business hours or respond to emergency situations.
