Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves helping to plan, prepare, and manage road resurfacing and maintenance contracts for the state's transportation department, including tracking projects and ensuring funds are used efficiently.
It also requires assisting with other tasks like surface treatments and responding to weather emergencies.
A good fit would be someone with an engineering background who enjoys hands-on work in construction and can handle outdoor challenges and irregular hours.
Assists in the management and oversight of resurfacing contract preparation, development, and implementation to include, but not limited to, contract estimating, data collection preparation, contract tracking, and documentation and preparing documentation for signing by a registered professional engineer.
Works closely with the Resident Maintenance Engineers in the preparation and development of other maintenance contracts such as surface seal, full depth patching, leveling, sidewalk, crack seal, and thermoplastic.
Manage database of all maintenance contracts to track all completed work and plan for the future contracts to ensure the best use of contract funds.
Perform duties as requested during inclement weather and after hour emergencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management and one (1) year of engineering or construction management work experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel.
This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.
May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
