This job involves managing and reviewing permit applications for road encroachments in Aiken County, ensuring they meet safety and maintenance standards, while supervising inspections and handling records.
It requires working outdoors in all weather, including emergencies, and coordinating with teams on construction projects.

(Aiken Maintenance Unit) Manages/coordinates the permit process within Aiken County. Reviews encroachment permit applications for compliance with standards for Aiken Maintenance.
Monitors the Encroachment Permit Processing System (EPPS) for new submittal of permits and supporting documentation, ensuring completeness of submittals and maintaining records for timely review of permits.
Supervises and gives guidance to Transportation Engineering Technician I in performing inspections for encroachment permit work.
Attends final inspections at completion of construction projects relating to encroachment permits. Performs duties in all inclement weather events. Performs other related duties as assigned.
A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or an approved acceptable equivalence. A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required.
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel.
This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling.
This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards.
May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies.
This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
