Full Job Description

Performs inspection duties and ensures contractor follows contract requirements and standard specifications. Assists project managers in making routine daily decisions concerning construction practices on assigned construction projects. Coordinates work between contractor and the Department to ensure progress of work. Ensures all data has been collected and compiled accurately on daily dairies and construction reports according to Department policy. Responsible for final construction plans on assigned projects. Ensures that proper sampling and testing of materials are performed according to the Department specifications. Coordinates with the utility companies for the relocation of utilities on assigned construction projects. Assists with office and managerial procedures, corresponding with contractors and Department personnel on assigned projects. Assists with emergency and inclement weather operations as needed, may be required to work extended hours and/or 12 hour shifts. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management; or an approved acceptable equivalence.

Physical Requirement: The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position requires driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
