Job Description
Summary
This job involves overseeing roadway construction projects to make sure they follow plans, stay safe, and finish on time and within budget.
You'll inspect work, supervise inspectors, and handle issues with contractors and the public.
It's a good fit for someone with an engineering background who likes hands-on fieldwork and problem-solving in outdoor settings.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Science and Management (or equivalent)
- Valid motor vehicle operator's license
- Certification as CEPSCI and SCDOT inspector
- Ability to perform physical tasks like standing for long periods, walking on rough terrain, and working near traffic
- Willingness to travel, work outside normal hours (including emergencies and inclement weather), and exposure to all weather conditions
- Experience in project management, construction inspection, and compliance with plans, specifications, and environmental regulations

Requirements
The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. This position may require travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.
