Job Description

Summary

This job involves coordinating logistics for military air transportation at Fort Hood, Texas, including managing cargo loading, validating hazardous materials, and ensuring smooth aircraft operations to support timely deployments.

It's a temporary position lasting up to 13 months in the U.S. Army.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in transportation or logistics, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

About the Position: This position is located in the US Army Sustainment Command, 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistic Readiness Center on Fort Hood, TX.

Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan Military Spouses, under Executive Order (E.O.) 13473 Priority Placement Program, DoD Military Spouse Preference (MSP) Eligible Reinstatement Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA) In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Coordinating flight line operations to facilitate cargo loading and/or aircraft departures; 2) Validating hazardous materials documentation to ensure compliance with aviation transport regulations; 3) Conducting joint inspections to verify proper equipment handling and movement procedures; 4) Tracking deployment schedules to provide real-time updates on aircraft arrivals and/or departures..

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Electrical Engineering Transportation Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Coordinate call-forward procedures to ensure timely deployment operations.
  • Validate hazardous materials documentation to comply with aviation transport regulations.
  • Monitor cargo flow to prevent delays in strategic deployment.
  • Direct airfield movement to facilitate aircraft loading and unloading.
  • Conduct joint inspections to validate compliance with transport regulations.
  • Operates post scales.
  • Verify shipping labels to ensure proper cargo identification.
  • Track deployment readiness to ensure accuracy in air movement documentation.
  • Liaise with multiple agencies to synchronize deployment logistics.
  • Maintain communication with flight line personnel to optimize air movement planning.
  • Report movement updates to ensure real-time situational awareness.
  • Coordinate airfield support requirements to align with aircraft operations.
