Job Description

Summary

This job involves helping with the logistics of moving military units, equipment, and personnel, including checking plans for deployments and creating shipping documents.

It's a temporary position lasting up to 13 months at a U.S. Army base in Texas.

About the Position: This position is located in the US Army Sustainment Command 407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Maintenance Division on Fort Hood, TX.

This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. Please see "Additional Information" section below for further details.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Preparing or verifying shipping requirements for mobility or deployment of military units or freight of all kind, and 2) Managing equipment or personnel movements by all modes of transportation such as air, rail, motor, military convoy, and/or ocean transport via commercial or military modes.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).

Major Duties:

  • Review deployment and/or mobilization plans, Homeland Defense Plans or exercises of supported units for regulatory conformance and required documentation.
  • Participate in coordination meetings to establish deployment timelines, requirements and unit readiness.
  • Validate shipping documentation for unit deployments, production of Military Shipping Labels (MSL) and Radio Frequency TAG production during mission execution.
  • Originate or revise local and higher headquarters publications in correlation with policies and procedures of command and higher headquarters.
