Job Description

Summary

This job involves supporting training programs for the United States Space Force by managing on-the-job training, career development courses, and educational data systems to help personnel meet mission goals.

It requires organizing classes, analyzing training needs, and ensuring everything aligns with military policies.

A good fit would be someone with administrative experience in education or training, strong organizational skills, and an interest in military support roles.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-04 or NH-01 level in federal service, involving critical thinking, program management, and problem-solving
  • Or four years of education above high school from an accredited institution in business, secretarial, or technical fields (transcripts required)
  • Or a combination of qualifying experience and education
  • Knowledge of education and training policies, including OJT, CDC, CEFTP, STS, AFJQS, AFQTP, ancillary training, and DoD processes
  • Familiarity with AF Military Personnel Data System (MILPDS) and MyLearning for training data management
  • Skills in using surveys and statistical data to analyze trends and recommend improvements to training programs
  • Ability to plan independent work, organize and instruct training courses, and communicate effectively in writing and verbally

The primary purpose of this position is to provide continuous, world-class infrastructure and base support in order to enable global Space Force mission Deltas and other space and homeland defense mission partners to conduct combat operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for 1702, Education and Training Technician Series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01 or equivalent in the Federal Service.

Specialized experience must include I have, or within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement will have, at least 3 years of general experience, 1 year of which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NH-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc).

Specialized experience includes demonstrating skills in critical thinking in identifying, analyzing, and solving complex issues; displaying personal accountability in leading, overseeing, guiding, and/or managing programs and projects within assigned areas of responsibility; planning and conducting functional technical activities for projects/programs; identifying and resolving conventional problems which may require deviations from accepted policies or instructions; working with customers to develop a mutual understanding of their requirements; monitoring and influencing cost parameters or work, tasks, and projects; and establishing priorities that reflect mission and organizational goals.

OR EDUCATION: Applicants must have four (4) years successfully completed education above high school.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of education and training policies, programs and processes related to On-the-Job Training (OJT), Career Development Course (CDC) administration, Career Field Education and Training Plans (CEFTP).

Specialty Training Standards (STS), Air Force Job Qualifications Standards (AFJQS), Air Force Qualification Training Plans (AFQTP), ancillary training program and directives, and Department of Defense (DoD) education policies, programs, and processes.

Knowledge of the AF Military Personnel Data System (MILPDS), and MyLearning as it pertains to training and education data management.

Skills in the use of surveys and statistical data to analyze trends and ability to make recommendations for improving education and training programs.

Ability to review, analyze, and evaluate training programs and objectives in order to identify training requirements, skill upgrades, and development programs to me the mission objectives.

Ability to plan work independently and organize and instruct classroom training courses or seminars as required.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing when preparing written forms, schedules, and reports relating to base training and education programs and to verbalize in a succinct manner the importance of required documentation.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Major Duties:

Serves as the base training manager, ensuring that Unit Training Managers (UTMs) and Additional Duty Training Managers (ADUTMs) are qualified in and knowledgeable of their responsibilities.

Assists in advising UTMs/ADUTMs, commanders, 1st Sergeants and Civilian Training offices ensuring that OJT and ancillary training programs are in compliance with local policies, procedures, and guidelines geared specifically towards the accomplishment of training programs.

Manages base-level training (military/civilian OJT). Serves as the base's training advisor and performs Staff Assistance Visits (SAVs).

Gathers and compiles Education and Training data and performs miscellaneous duties.
