About the Position: The U.S. Military Academy, West Point, NY is an academic institution located in the Hudson River Valley, 50 miles from New York City.

The historic site is the oldest continuously occupied military post in America.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) assisting in designing and/or developing three-dimensional (3D) or virtual reality simulations; AND 2) creating game scripts using object-oriented scripting languages such as C# or other comparable coding applications; AND 3) utilizing gaming software applications such as Unity and Unreal to create educational or other related content.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).

Major Duties:

  • Design and develop Virtual Reality/three-dimensional (3D) Modeling/VR simulations and applications for mobile devices and virtual reality (VR) headsets.
  • Develop and configure assets, features, and utilities for a three-dimensional (3D)-based synthetic environment framework.
  • Write three-dimensional (3D) game logic for Unity, Unreal, or similar type programs to be used in virtual reality (VR) and other immersive experiences.
  • Code in Unity, Unreal, or other C# environments with object-oriented design and implementation skills.
