One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

GS-07: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-05) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as assisting in development of training classes; reviewing training guides, visual aids or other training materials.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in Federal Service.

GS-09: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as developing and delivering of subject-matter or specialty courses; modifying and updating training guides, visual aids, and other educational materials based on evaluative feedback to ensure content remains aligned with functional needs.

Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement.

Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-07 or higher grade in Federal Service.

Major Duties:

  • Delivers functional training programs to employees
  • Prepares training materials and lesson plans; develops course content and coordinates the development of training aids
  • Evaluates student and class performance to determine proficiency and develops criteria for evaluating training effectiveness
  • Assists higher-graded training staff in developing new courses by researching and verifying information
  • Ensures all required training aids, materials, and equipment are available for each class session
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training activities and continuously revises lesson plans to meet new requirements and keep technical information up to date
  • Maintains student and class records
