As a Traffic Engineering Intern with Gwinnett County’s Department of Transportation the incumbent assists with performing engineering analysis and evaluation of traffic signals, Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) infrastructure, and other traffic control devices.
Responsibilities include supporting traffic signal and ATMS upgrades, timing optimization projects, and section administration and maintenance activities such as signal design drawings, equipment inventory, GIS mapping, and development impact reviews.
The intern also contributes to in-house analysis and evaluation studies by analyzing transportation needs, preparing technical reports, and reviewing study findings.
Additional duties include evaluating results, identifying cost-effective repair solutions, and providing technical support to address a variety of operational challenges.
