  • Skills in oral and written presentations, plus providing guidance on cargo tracking, security, handling, storage, and aircraft loading
  • Enlisted military grade in the National Guard; ability to work shift work, weekends, and 24/7 operations
  • Title 32 Excepted Service position; not eligible for annuitants

Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, Position Description Number D2126000 and is part of the 106TH RQW, National Guard.

This vacancy does not meet the criteria for appointment of annuitants. Military Grades: Enlisted SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade.

Experience, education, or training, involving the movement of freight or passengers and determining transportation and operating costs.

Experience participating in the direction and coordination of traffic management functions. Experience interpreting and providing routine advice on carrier tariffs and related routing guides.

Interpreting regulations/requirements and developing local policies to implement changes effectively.

Experience applying applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations concerning transportation and traffic procedures.

Experience preparing reports and recommendations involving appeals, special permits, adjustments in rates and charges.

Experience which involved negotiations with carriers on individual shipments or traffic movement. Experience in making effective presentations both orally and in writing. Major Duties:

As a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (GS-2130-09) you will serve as a traffic management specialist performing technical and analyticalwork concerned with planning, development and execution of traffic policies and programs.

Incumbent provides guidance to units and customers concerning tracking, security, handling, storage, and aircraft loading of general cargo, hazardous materials and material requiring special handling.

Incumbent must be able to obtain safe, economical and efficient transportation of freight to meet mission needs by providing 24/7 global supply operations.

This position is subject to shift work and/or weekend assignments.
