This vacancy is for a Trade and Industry Analyst in the Bureau of Industry and Security within the Department of Commerce.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

This experience need not have been in the federal government.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

To qualify at the GS-11 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level in the Federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as: Analyzing program operations in the business or industry area related to industrial base and/or national security; and Preparing briefings for internal and external stakeholders; and Contacting internal and/or external stakeholders orally and in writing to obtain information.

-OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree. or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. or LL.M., if related.

-OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Major Duties:

As a Trade and Industry Analyst, you will perform the following duties: Researches, analyzes, and interprets moderately complex trade and industry data and information as they relate to office's Defense Priorities and Allocations System, Offsets in Defense Trade, Department of Defense international agreements.

Identifies procedural problems in program operations, makes recommendations to resolve complicated problems involving regulatory compliance, technical obstacles.

Studies proposed legislation and/or regulations for impact on programs. Researches current or new management practices for application to programs or operations.
