You will serve as a TOOLMAKER in the MECHANICAL SHOP (CODE 931), PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Ability to accomplish work using knowledge of heat treatment of steel, allowances for fits, all types of gearing, screw thread sizes, all types of roller bearings, and mathematical tables.
Ability to draw sketches, design jigs and all types of fixtures, including dies for sheet metal work.
Ability to select suitable material and machines to complete the job using a variety of precision instruments and test equipment.
Ability to design and manufacture rubber and plastic molds from aluminum and steel.
