This job involves supervising a team of inmates in a federal prison factory, where they design, build, and repair tools, dies, and fixtures used in metal stamping and assembly.

Qualifications will be determined by comparing your application to the responses to the Applicant Assessment Questions against the guidelines found in the Job Qualification System for Trades and Labor Occupations, WS-3416 series.

This position is located in the Federal Prison Industries, UNICOR Factory, Federal Correctional Institution (FCI), Milan, Michigan.
Provides employment and training for inmates in designing, building and repairing of tools, dies and fixtures for stamping and assembling metal products.
Involved with the manufacturing, repairing, and rebuilding of metal stamping dies, metal piercing details, and items of equipment from raw stock of different metals and metal alloys such as stainless steel alloys, aluminum titanium, magnesium and other materials such as rubber, plastics, and nylon through the use of conventional or computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools and precision handwork.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution.
The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
