Job Description

Summary

This job involves administering aptitude and qualification tests to military applicants at a processing station and test sites in Montgomery, Alabama, while ensuring all testing materials are secure and accurately handled.

About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Testing Clerk for the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) located in Montgomery, AL and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites for the applicants of the various Armed Services.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes prepare applicant package, mail transmits both electronic data to appropriate offices for actions and conduct quality control checks to ensure testing material is properly completed and make corrections as needed.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

Add the two percentages.

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accountability Attention to Detail Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Reasoning Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04).

Major Duties:

  • Conduct aptitude and qualification examinations at the MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites for the applicants of the various Armed Services.
  • Ensure 100% security and accountability of all accountable test material when conducting test sessions.
  • Operate a variety of office automation equipment including personal computers, facsimile machines, scanners, digital copiers, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA), and industrial shredders.
  • Assist in the conduct of test material inventories as required and ensure strict accountability and security of all testing materials.
  • Participate in required training activities within the organization, when assigned.
