Summary

This temporary role supports the Baltimore County Board of Elections by handling clerical tasks like assisting with hiring and training election judges, processing voter registrations, and preparing for elections through activities such as mailings and data entry.

Full Job Description

Regular Schedule: 34 hours per week

Temporary vacancies exist in the Board of Elections.

A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.

Requirements

Under general supervision, performs comprehensive clerical work in support of a County program or agency.

  • Assists in the hiring of election judges and schedule their training
  • Assists in Proofreading processed batches of registration.
  • Prioritizes data processing tasks to assure timely completion in accordance with office policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for voter registrations applications.
  • Assists with special projects including – Mass mailings, petitions, redistricting, verifications, voter education, canvass election, packing judge supplies and surveys.
  • Maintains and secures files daily.
  • Assists with the preparation and the conduct of elections to meet all deadlines to include but not limited to: Processing voter registration, provisional ballots, record retention, reports, certificates and other information in accordance with Local, State and Federal laws.
  • Operates office machinery, photocopiers, fax machines, and calculators.
  • Updates and maintains filing systems, lists, log books and rosters.
  • Answers routine inquiries from the public, or directs inquiries to proper agency.
Examples of Other Duties
Collects and compiles technical data and prepares summary statistics. Performs occasional light typing or word processing. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Possession of a high school diploma or an appropriate high school equivalency
plus
one year's general clerical experience.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE

Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.

Additional Information

Must be available to work 40 hours/week with some mandatory overtime on evenings and weekends during the Election year.

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this position involves special physical demands such as lifting 50 pounds or more, climbing ladders, etc.
