Key Requirements

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in electrical/electronic engineering, computer science, telecommunications management, or related fields
  • At least one year of specialized experience in mission assurance risk management for enterprise telecommunication and network systems
  • Proficiency in conducting risk and vulnerability assessments using frameworks like the Risk Management Framework (RMF)
  • Knowledge of DoD security controls and standards, including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Experience ensuring resiliency in telecommunications architectures, such as redundancy and failover capabilities for the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN)

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA (EX).

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements (IOR): Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in applying mission assurance risk management principles to ensure the continuous operation of critical enterprise telecommunication and network systems.

This includes conducting comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessments of communication systems and networks using industry-standard risk management frameworks.

Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume.

All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement. Major Duties:

  • Executes the DISA Mission Assurance program by applying DoD principles to critical telecommunications infrastructure to ensure the availability, integrity, and confidentially of services.
  • Conducts comprehensive risk and vulnerability assessments of DISA telecommunications systems and networks using DoD-approved frameworks, such as the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Ensures the resiliency of telecommunications architectures in support of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) including redundancy, diverse routing, and failover capabilities to ensure operational continuity.
  • Assesses compliance with DoD security controls and standards, such as Security Technical implementation Guides (STIGs), on all network and telecommunications equipment within the DISA environment.
