The United States Space Force (USSF) Space Operations Command (SpOC) Space Base Delta 2 (SBD 2) at Buckley Space Force Base, Colorado is searching for a Telecommunications Specialist (NH-0391-02, GS 9-11 equivalent).
Description: Come work for the US Space Force, Space Base Delta 2 (SBD 2), at Buckley SFB, CO.
The incumbent serves as a key member of the Operations Team, providing Base Operating Support (BOS) Information Technology (IT) services to SBD 2's 12,000+ customers, multiple local Geographically Separated Units (GSUs), and three other GSUs located around the US.
The incumbent will represent the unit in working groups as the local expert on network, field services, and other mission-essential tasks.
In this role, you will serve as a technical advisor, providing assistance and guidance to system users, program managers, contracting personnel, and contractors.
You will also act as the Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) between the unit and the Enterprise IT as a Service (EITaaS) contractors.
A key responsibility will be to implement telecommunication programs and special projects, always striving to improve existing telecommunications capabilities and meet new systems requirements.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate independent judgment in determining the nature, scope, and priority of work efforts to accomplish assigned missions.
You must have the ability to make authoritative technical decisions and resolve most problems that may arise.
Additionally, you will be expected to keep your supervisor informed of progress and address potentially controversial issues, especially those with a major program or operational impact.
A firm understanding of network structure and architecture is required.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in managing multiple, simultaneous telecommunication and IT projects, with a special emphasis on providing exceptional customer service to the unit's 12,000+ customers.
Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Knowledge of a wide range of telecommunications theories, concepts, principles, practices, procedures, policies, standards and operational requirements. 2.
Knowledge of performance characteristics of telecommunications equipment, systems, services, and transmission media to evaluate devices, proposals, and approaches. 3.
Knowledge of basic electronics theory and operating principles, the application of existing and planned technology to communications requirements, and equipment interoperability and compatibility. 4.
Knowledge of associated methods and techniques such as contracting procedures/legal requirements, cost analyses, and budgets. 5.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing to identify, direct, or coordinate actions required in providing needed service. 6.
Ability to analyze/apply specialized communication methods and analytical techniques involving telecommunication systems (e.g., systems compatibility, circuits, switches, distribution, satellite linkages, and networking).
