Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing phone and communication services for a U.S.

Marine Corps base in Japan, including coordinating with vendors, monitoring equipment usage, and suggesting improvements to make systems more efficient and cost-effective.

A good fit would be someone with hands-on experience in telecommunications who enjoys working with software tools to track and report on network performance, and is comfortable in a military environment overseas.

Note that medical and dental care is very limited in this location, so it's best for those prepared for that challenge.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-07 level or equivalent, managing telecommunications services and equipment
  • Proficiency in using Telecommunications Management System (TMS) software for monitoring and reporting
  • Experience with Switch Expert (SE) and Maintenance Administration Position (MAP) tools
  • Knowledge of coordinating Telecommunications Control Officers (TCO) programs
  • Ability to ensure vendor-supplied telephone equipment meets official requirements
  • Skills in recommending telecommunications changes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs

You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the G-6 DIVISION ofMARINE CORPS BASE CAMP BUTLER . ***ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: managing telecommunications services and equipment provided to customers through coordination and management to include Telecommunications Management System (TMS) software, Switch Expert (SE) and Maintenance Administration Position (MAP) to monitor and report on telephone line and trunk usage.

  • You will manage telecommunications services and equipment provided to customers through coordination and management of the Marine Corps Base unit Telecommunications Control Officers (TCO) program.
  • You will ensure telephone equipment and services supplied by vendors meet requirements and are used for official purposes.
  • You will use several TSE tools such as Telecommunications Management System (TMS) software, Switch Expert (SE), and Maintenance Administration Position (MAP) to monitor and report on telephone line and trunk usages.
  • You will use knowledge of current telecommunications equipment to make recommendation for changes that will enhance communications while reducing cost.
