Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing and supporting telecommunications systems for the Navy in South Texas, including installing equipment, handling repairs and upgrades, and ensuring services run efficiently and cost-effectively.

You'll work as a specialist providing technical advice, inspecting contractor work, and acting as a go-between for customers and service providers.

  • You will serve as a TELECOMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST in the SOUTHEAST BCO DIVISION (N94), EXTERNAL SUPPORT DEPARTMENT (N9) at NAVAL COMPUTER and TELECOMMUNICATIONS AREA MASTER STATION ATLANTIC (NCTAMS LANT).
  • You will provide technical assistance, quality control checks and inspection of all work performed by Communications Contractors.
  • You will handle requirements associated with repairs, moves, adds, and changes, new communications services, upgrades, service removal/reduction and renovations.
  • You will ensure all telephone services and facilities are provided effectively and economically to activities within the BCO South Texas region.
  • You will provide assistance for various aspects of configuration designs and implementation planning for telecommunications services.
  • You will provides technical advice and makes recommendations to the Base Communications Office (BCO) manager and customers on interpretation and application of policies, standards and procedures for evaluating telephone communications.
  • You will serve as a liaison between the activities and service and/or equipment contractor to ensure the administrative telephone systems maintain the highest possible level of efficiency and effectiveness.
  • You will receive inquiries concerning the condition of Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) and recommend repairs or replacements.
  • You will prepare Internal Purchase Requests (IPRs) to order telecommunication services and equipment.
