Summary

This job involves helping integrate technology into the operations of U.S.

Customs and Border Protection to make information more accurate and accessible to the public, while improving workflows and supporting decision-making with data.

A good fit would be someone with experience in technology projects, business process improvements, and working with teams to adopt new tools in a government or large organization setting.

It's aimed at mid-level professionals who can handle complex tech integrations without much supervision.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of the Commissioner, IPL, CBP Information Center located in Washington, DC.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Integrating technology solutions with business processes and strategic plans to improve the delivery of accurate information to the public, consulting with higher graded Technology Specialists on complex or novel initiatives.

Conducting requirement analysis, implementation, and conversion activities by translating program and operational needs into system specifications and supporting the adoption of new technologies.

Reviewing business processes and workflows, recommending, and implementing improvements to increase efficiency and service delivery.

Maintaining and continuously improving information resources and knowledge bases, integrating, and analyzing data to support informed decision-making and establishing new benchmarks for program effectiveness.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Leading the adoption and integration of technology solutions from a program perspective to enhance strategic plans and business processes, ensuring that information technology tools are effectively leveraged to meet objectives and improve the delivery of accurate information to the public.

Leading the planning and execution of projects to improve and support information systems, independently defining user requirements, aligning technology with operational needs, and ensuring successful project outcomes; coordinating with managers, colleagues, and IT specialists as needed to achieve objectives.

Serving as a subject matter expert in requirement analysis, implementation, and conversion activities, translating program and operational needs into actionable system specifications, and supporting the adoption of new technologies.

Advising on business process re-engineering and participating in cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, optimize system performance, and implement technology-driven solutions that address complex, interrelated challenges.

Analyzing staffing, knowledge management, and operational processes using data-driven methods to recommend improvements that increase efficiency, strengthen relationships with internal and external partners, and support the effective use of technology.

Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) Eligibles: If you have never worked for the federal government, you are not CTAP eligible.

To be considered well qualified under CTAP, you must be rated at a minimum score of 85 for this position. Major Duties:

This position starts at a salary of $102,415.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

Typical duties include: Integrates technology solutions with business processes and strategic plans to improve the delivery of accurate information to the public, consulting with higher graded Technology Specialist on complex or novel initiatives.

Plans and coordinates technology-enabled projects, defining user requirements, preparing project documentation, and ensuring alignment with CIC's operational objectives.

Conducts requirement analysis, implementation, and conversion activities, translating program and operational needs into system specifications and supporting the adoption of new technologies.

Identifies operational requirements for assigned technology and communication tools, collaborates with technical specialists to translate program needs into system specifications, and recommends protocols for information sharing and resource utilization within assigned projects.
