is a potential duty location for this position; however, the Washington D.C. office is expected to relocate to Alexandria, Virginia.
Selectees may be required to report initially to Washington, D.C and later report to Alexandria, Virginia.

Specialized Experience: Specialized Experience for the GS-15, you must have one year (full 52 weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service.
Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Direct a national-level research, evaluation, or technology program of significant scope and complexity and the delivery of high-quality research that informs senior leadership and Departmental policy decisions; AND Exercise supervisory authority over a multidisciplinary professional workforce.
Examples include assigning work, performance and ensuring staff development and organizational effectiveness; AND Design and oversee analytic studies, evaluations, and demonstrations; apply research findings; and represent the organization at the executive level with internal and external stakeholders on issues of national significance.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

This position is located in the Office of Policy Development and Research (PD&R).
PD&R is responsible for providing advice and information to the Secretary to further the agency's, policy agenda; for maintaining current information to monitor housing needs, housing market conditions, and the operation of existing programs; and for conducting research on priority housing and community development issues.
As a Director Affordable Housing Technology Research Division, you will: Direct the development and implementation of the Division's research, evaluation, and demonstration activities, including intramural activities performed by the division's staff.
Design and execute the analytic studies of major Departmental programs using both administrative records systems and original data collection from grantees and program participants.
Conceive, formulate, supervise, and conduct research in the areas of accessible design for housing and community planning; regulatory barriers in housing development; application of land and building development technology to promote quality affordable housing; environmental hazards in housing; and utilities management.
Evaluate work performance of staff in their various roles as project manager, program manager, team leader, and project support staff.
Develop and present budget estimates, recommendations, and justifications to support the division's work plans.
