This job involves working as a technician to support and troubleshoot combat and weapon systems on U.S.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a TECHNICIAN in the NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER PORT HUENEME DIV, SENSORS WEAPONS & LAUNCHERS DEPT of NAVAL SURFACE WARFARE CENTER.

The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze.

Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band NT-03 (or GS-9/10 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying electronic theory to provide technical oversight on system condition requirements to develop repair processes for the resolution of problems within combat systems.

  • You will provide technical services involved with the execution of combat systems and/or weapon systems work assignments.
  • You will execute assignments pertaining to significant tasks within complex project-oriented in-service technical support services in U.S. and allied ships and/or shore facilities.
  • You will complete assignments concerning electronics, electro-mechanical and/or other aspects of the system and include the investigation, analysis, evaluation, and resolution of the operational deficiencies.
  • You will provide technical services and training during Installation and Check-out, Integration tests, Combat Systems Ship's Qualification Trails, on board ships, underway, test sites, contractor sites, and/or school commands.
  • You will provide problem identification and resolution, instruction in performance of maintenance/installation procedures or providing technical information/advice relative to the specific equipment.
  • You will conduct comprehensive design studies into development acquisition and/or in-service technical support for assigned equipment.
  • You will evaluate technical performance up to and including the system level of equipment associated with equipment specifically related to hardware reliability, operation, performance and/or maintainability problems.
  • You will provide evaluation of and solution to fleet problems.
