The purpose and mission of the Marion County Community Corrections Agency is to improve the lives of citizens in Marion County through community supervision, as an alternative to incarceration, utilizing evidence-based practices and comprehensive case management while cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the citizens of Indianapolis and Marion County.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing and supervising the performance of all corrections officers and senior corrections officers located at the Duvall Residential Center.
This position provides security for up to 350 residents. The incumbent in this position is directly responsible for public safety, client accountability and adherence to evidence-based practices.
The incumbent in this position assists the supervisor of security in agency-wide decision making.
This position has wide latitude to make decisions related to public safety, team-member safety, client safety and accountability to records management, maintenance and retention, dissemination of customer information, and administrative services.
Incumbent must effectively identify and evaluate available data to exercise sound judgment when evaluating requirements, productivity of team-members and cost effectiveness of programs.
Errors in judgment could cause irreparable consequences and lost work hours to the agency.
The incumbent has the freedom to use judgment while assisting in policy formulation and in all types of negotiations.
This position will provide assistance and assume managerial duties in the absence of the manager. Position is required to be on-call 24-hours a day seven (7) days a week.
Position reports to the Supervisor of Security.

High school diploma or equivalent with two (2) years’ experience working in corrections or the criminal justice system. Successful completion of all required trainings.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Requires knowledge in leadership, management, personnel and process performance measurement, investigative principles and practices used in ensuring compliance with appropriate state and federal laws, regulations and requirements of court evidence, and training.
Must be able to advise and assist team-members and the public in all aspects of the agency. Must be able to interface with the public regarding procedures.
Must be able to interpret and explain court decisions to residents, others, and managers. Emotional intelligence when dealing with people of all backgrounds. Knowledge and use of Microsoft Office.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
Associates degree in Criminal Justice or equivalent with one (1) year experience working in corrections or the criminal justice system. Successful completion of all required trainings.
