Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).

The Employment Security Department (ESD) is seeking 5 detail-oriented, customer-focused professionals to serve as a Benefit Technicians with Tax and Wage Employer Services, within the Account Management Center.

As a Benefit Technician, you will provide direct services to employers, reporting agents, and other stakeholders regarding Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax requirements.
You will help ensure employers understand their obligations under state law, assist them with filing accurate and timely reports, and support the integrity of the UI trust fund.
Your work directly contributes to healthy communities by helping employers stay compliant and enabling UI benefits to be paid without delay.
In this role, you will respond to inquiries, explain UI tax liability and reporting requirements, and guide employers through filing, adjustments, and electronic payment processes.
You will support Tax Specialists and leadership with administrative tasks, maintain accurate account information, and assist in determining employer liability by reviewing accounts and verifying data.
You will use multiple state systems and databases to research employer status and ensure compliance with RCWs, WACs, and agency policies.

Option 1: Two (2) years of a combination of education and relevant experience.
Option 2: Two (2) years’ customer service experience.
Option 3: An associate’s degree.
