The Department of Transportation is actively looking to appoint a Survey Technician Supervisor in Venango County. This pivotal position involves overseeing the operations of a dedicated survey team responsible for conducting a variety of surveys, including preliminary assessments, right-of-way evaluations, and detailed geodetic surveys. The supervisor will ensure that the team effectively utilizes both traditional and modern electronic equipment to gather and process field data. Key responsibilities include supervising the determination of elevations, locations, and distances within the designated survey area, as well as managing the electronic downloading and editing of survey data through the Department's Computer Aided Drafting and Design System (CADD). Requirements

In this position, you will oversee the daily decision-making processes related to the field surveys assigned to your team.

This encompasses a range of responsibilities, including the technical aspects of survey operations, such as calculating field traverses, right-of-way (R/W) measurements, and bridge stakeouts.

You will provide guidance to your crew regarding their daily tasks and work efforts, ensuring that they are aligned with project objectives.

For significant decisions concerning survey requirements, you will consult with the Chief of Surveys or Project Managers to ensure that all actions taken are in accordance with project standards and expectations.Interested in learning more?

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week.

In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as a Survey Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
• Two years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.

Condition of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
