The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for a Survey Technician to join our Engineering District 9 Team. Requirements

In this position, you will engage in technical tasks essential for accurately determining the locations of points and areas based on engineering requirements from various units. You will leverage modern technology and innovative methods to execute advanced surveying functions, utilizing conventional, electronic, and GPS equipment. Your responsibilities will include gathering data at key locations using prisms and poles to develop design files for highway mapping. In coordination with your supervisor, you will mark right-of-way and bridge points. Additionally, you will employ various software programs to upload and download survey data, facilitating the preparation of necessary reports and plans.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time.

In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Hollidaysburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as an Engineering Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments; or
• One year of experience as a member of a survey corps which included duties operating both standard and electronic surveying instruments, and an associate's degree in surveying, drafting, design, civil or any other appropriate field of engineering technology.

Conditions of Employment:

• This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license.
