Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This position is a Permanent WS-5801-15 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1297000 and is part of the MO Combined Support Maintenance Shop.

This is a non-bargaining position. MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard.

Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).

Maximum Military Grade: MAJ (O-4) with date of rank after 02-Jun-2021 Minimum Military Grade: 2LT (O-1) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training that demonstrates your ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

WS-15 SPECIALIZED EXPPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments; review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; experience which provided knowledge of various lines of work performed; deal effectively with other people and gain their cooperation in achieving common goals; supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.

Major Duties:

  • Plans the overall allocation of personnel and resources to the organizational segments supervised to accomplish work operations which, because of their scope, volume, and complexity, must be planned on a yearly or longer basis.
  • Analyzes work plans developed by subordinate supervisors for accomplishment of assigned work orders and projects and the status of work being accomplished in relation to overall schedule requirements.
  • Provides higher level managers and/or supervisors information on status of work projects, budget estimates, changes in equipment, facilities, techniques, etc.
  • Participates fully with higher level management officials and staff organizations in studying and developing recommendations concerning changes in specification requirements, work techniques and standards.
  • Participates fully with higher level management officials and staff organizations in studying and developing recommendations concerning improvement or modernization of equipment, facility layout, and workflow.
  • Participates in planning conferences and meetings.
  • Explains work requirements to subordinate levels of supervision.
  • Set deadlines and sequence of operations.
  • Coordinates and directs the work of units supervised.
  • Balances workload for subordinate work groups.
  • Analyzes production, cost and personnel utilization records and made adjustment in operations to correct problems.
  • Spot-checks work operations to assure production and quality standards were met.
  • Determines long-range training needs for all levels of subordinates.
  • Submits funding and budget requests with justification for approval and arranges for the accomplishment of the training.
  • Develops and establishes the internal procedures to be followed by subordinate supervisors to assure effective control and direction of the work activities, organizations, and personnel supervised.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
